HOW TO CONTROL YOUR ANGER ?

Well, well, so we are finally talking about one of the most talked about subjects that worries us a lot : Anger.

If you talk to a guy who has anger problem, you will immediately understand the gravity of this issue of anger and the necessity for Anger Management, for most people.

Anger is a form of aggressiveness, as well as an emotion. I shall dig deeper into the subject of aggression, in my one of my later writings. Aggression most commonly gets reflected in political strife, social unrest, war, individual violence, criminal offence and deliberate attack on someone or a group.

It is natural to be angry at times, but then it becomes a matter of concern when it gets out hand and causes harm to oneself and others.

We human beings are filled with a wide varieties of emotions. Sadness, anger, envy, jealousy, suspicion, greed, lust, all are emotions which define us as human beings. Animals also have emotions, but what sets us apart from all animals is that the causes, expressions and the effects of emotions on us are extremely complex and have harmful consequences, though the degree may vary, from person to person and from situation to situation.

If you do a casual survey, you will see that there will be, barely, handful guys, who would claim not to have much of an anger problem. Hence we need to ask the question ‘Why anger is so common ?’

First, anger is a part of human nature and it lies mostly hidden in us. For anger to flare up, all that you require is some kind of a trigger or as we often call it : a provocation. Of course, there are many amongst us, who just explode without any obvious reason. And that’s what we call unprovoked anger. There are biological, as well as, psychological reasons behind anger.

Secondly, anger, if not kept in check, has a typical tendency to become habitual gradually and it soon escalates over a period of time, till it goes out of hand. This particular aspect of anger becoming habitual is one of the most serious concerns as a personal issue and also as a prime focus during Anger Management.

Thirdly, our Personality has a strong role to play in anger outbursts. People who are dominating, irritable, hard to please, difficult to deal with, hard – hearted, high – handed, spiteful or are uncaring, are most likely to have serious anger issues.

Fourthly, anger can be an expression of a feeling of disgust, displeasure, or for that matter, disagreement or rebellion. As we all know, life often throws up various types of frustrating things on us, and then as a reaction, anger becomes an outlet for our hidden complexes inside.

And finally, for many amongst us, show of anger is either a conscious act to subdue someone to achieve some end, or else to ensure victory in a conflicts of intentional domination and egotistic subjugation.

People think anger is the best way to control people and get the better of them. Not at all. Not only you loose respect from others, you might soon be made into an outcast from the social groups that you were once a part of. People can spread bad words about you, which can cost you dearly. You might say ‘I don’t care’, but if you think with a cool head, you will see that there’s a lot to care about it actually ! Once you let go off your arrogance, you will get to see a clear picture of where you stand and why you need to keep your anger in check. Your anger is your problem, not of others.

Uncontrolled anger can lead to major health problems, notoriously, high blood pressure, increased sugar in your blood, heart attacks and even sudden stroke.
